God’s Plan

By Brother Scott

Originally, I had written a lengthy message about the injustice of our judicial system, and the courts’ mistreatment of people who are ignorant of the law, and the way we are taken advantage of because of our inability to afford legal representation.  I was going to address the religious restrictions, and persecution we face daily as Christians here by other inmates, and even administration.  I could stand right here, gripe, moan, and complain about every single negative thing that we are facing, have faced, and possibly will continue to face.  But, what good would it do?

So, I started asking myself questions. My first question was: Why do the wicked prosper?  In my search for the answer, I found Proverbs 24:20 which says, “for the evil man has NO FUTURE; the lamp of the wicked will be PUT OUT.”  When I read this, I was filled with pity instead of anger.  No future … Put out … I realized, this moment, in this world, is all that they will ever have.  This is heart wrenching.  Look around you. Every single thing you see is dirt.  It came from dirt, and it will return to the dirt.  I cannot understand why anyone would trade the glory of heaven for DIRT.

This brings me to my next question.  How can we stand up for what is right and fight against wicked people in positions of power and authority?  Sometimes I don’t like the answers that I receive.  I have fought my whole life; it’s what I do; it’s in my nature.  So, when I read this, it was hard for me to accept.  Romans 13:1 says, “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.  For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.”  Colossians 1:16 says, “for in Him all things were created in heaven, and on earth, visible, and invisible, whether thrones or dominions, or principalities, or authorities, all things were created through Him, and for Him.”  OK, so God places these very people in these positions of authority?  Why?  That’s when I read 1 Corinthians 1:25 … “ for the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” I came to the sudden realization that I had been looking at this all wrong. This is all part of God’s plan.

Nothing happens unless it is His will. God placed these people in their positions to fulfill His plan. Even if they are purposely being evil, fighting against us, or even God Himself, no matter how smart they may think they are, or what they think they are doing to hinder, or oppress, or deter us as Christians.  In reality, they are only fulfilling the very purpose God put them there for.  They are doing exactly what God created them to do.  Now that is justice.  Isn’t it beautiful the way God works !!!

I want you all to know that God’s will is done, on earth, and in heaven, in my life and yours.  I placed some scriptures together in a sequence:

            Romans 8:28

            Psalms 60:12

            Exodus 14:14

            Psalms 46:10-11

            Romans 8:31

I pray that you find comfort my brothers in knowing this: “All things work together for the good for those who love Him, and are called according to His purpose.  With God we will gain the victory, and He will trample down our enemies.  The Lord will fight for you; you have only to be still.  Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.  The lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.  What then shall we say to this?  If God is for us, WHO can stand against us ???”
